1. Surface roughness. Since the speed of the shaft and the amount of oil are different, generally if the roughness of the shaft is too large or too small, it will affect the leakage and wear of the oil seal. The allowable range of shaft surface roughness is Rz1.0~5.0μm; Ra0.2~0.8μm. For the oil seal of the rotating shaft, take 2.5~1.6μmRz.

2. Hardness. The surface hardness of the rotating shaft is generally ≥35HRC. When the medium is dirty, there are contaminated impurities from the outside, or the shaft surface speed is >12m/s, the shaft surface hardness should be above 55HRC, and the depth of the quenching layer on the shaft surface should be >0.2mm.

3. The chamfer of the shaft is recommended to be 15° to 30°, in order to allow the oil seal to be installed reliably without damaging the oil seal lip.
